FastScout 2 features an all new Scout Builder that you'll use to create your scouting reports. This new Scout Builder is a very intuitive tool that looks and feels like a lot of modern document editors you use today.

Creating a Report:

After selecting an opponent from the My Opponents tab, click on the Scout Builder tab, then Add Report to get started.

Next, select the Template Type. This controls the set of tiles that you start with on the scouting report. You'll be able to create and save your own templates as you go. Choose between a Blank Template or any Saved Templates you have created.

Then, select your Color Pallet. Choose between your own team colors or your opponents. Type in a name for your report and click 'Let's Get Started!

Report Style/Titles:

You will next enter Scout Builder where you can begin creating your scouting report. If you did not select a previously saved template, your page will appear much like a blank sheet as seen below. The left-hand side of the page shows your Scout Builder menu where you'll be able to make changes, and drag/drop tiles onto your page. The rest of the page will show a real-time preview of what your scouting report will look like.

The first thing on the menu to point out is the Report Style options. Choose between 2 standard themes, toggle which logos appear in the report header, and toggle the color scheme of each tile:


To edit the title or subtitle of your scouting report, hover your mouse over the area and click to edit the title.

Type in the title or subtitle you'd like, and click the green check mark to save the change.


Under the Tiles menu, you'll be able to add various types of tiles to your report. We'll go through each one here.

Text - Selecting the Text tile will add a Text Block to your report as seen below.

Drag/drop the tile anywhere you'd like on the screen, or re-size the block by dragging with your mouse from the bottom-right corner of the tile.


Click on the default "Text Block" title and start typing to enter a new title. Toggle the Eye icon in the top-right corner of the tile to show/hide the title.


Finally, type text into the tile. As you start typing, you'll notice a simple text-editor menu appear above. You can easily adjust the font size, color and style, as well as insert bulleted or numbered lists. 

To delete a tile you've added, simply click the Trash icon in the top-right corner.

If you'd like to copy/clone the topic you created, click the copy icon in the top-right corner of the tile as seen below:

Image/Play - Selecting the Image/Play tile will add an Image tile to your report as seen below. Click UPLOAD IMAGE to add any image to your report.

After selecting your image, re-size and crop your image as needed, then click Save Image.

Your image will now appear on your report. You can resize the image tile, and change the title of the tile as covered with the Text tile above.

Section Title - Selecting 'Section Title' will allow you to add your own header/titles to your page. This is a useful tile for separating Starters and Reserves among your personnel tiles.

After selecting Section Title from the Tiles menu, you can toggle the width, background and text properties:

After adding the section title, click in the tile to edit the title. Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the tile to edit properties again.

Spacer - Selecting the Spacer tile will add a blank tile to your report that you can use to create white space on your page when needed. In the example below, I want to add some white space between my two topics "Top Plays" and "Keys to Win". Clicking the Spacer tile will add a blank tile, and I can then drag/drop the spacer where I want it.

By default, tiles will snap into place on top or next to each other based on where you position them. The spacer tile is therefore the best way to create white space on your report when needed.

Team Stats - Selecting the Team Stats tile will allow you to choose between the following 4 Team Stat options:

1. Four Factors -  Learn more about four factors here.

2. Points per Period - Will show average points per period as well as opponents average against.

3. Cumulative Box Score - Cumulative stats table showing average stats for season

4. Team Stat Comparison - Cumulative stats table showing team stats for your opponent, and their opponents stats against them

After clicking on your selection, you'll see a preview of the stats as seen below. 

For the Boxscore table, you'll see additional options available. Click the GAMES tab to choose the specific games to include in this cumulative box score table.

Click the BOXSCORE EDITOR tab to:

  • Change or hide the title
  • Choose the specific stats included in the table by checking/unchecking the stats you want to see
  • Arrange column order by draggind/dropping stats in the correct order
  • Toggle stats between Average and Totals by clicking on them under 'arrange Column Order'

From the PLAYERS tab, you can choose to show/hide specific players from appearing in the table.

Once you've set up your table, click Add Tile to add the tile to your report.

For any table in FastScout 2, you can sort the statistics by any column simply by clicking on the column header. In the example below, I have clicked on MIN to sort stats by average minutes played. Re-size the tile or change the title using the same steps described above.

After adding a tile, click the Pencil icon highlighted below to adjust any settings:

Personnel - Selecting the Personnel tile will allow you to add tiles for each individual player you'd like. After clicking Personnel, first define the rows of statistics you'd like to see on the GAMES tab. Choose from the pre-defined splits seen below, or create your own split of games by clicking 'Add Custom Split'. Drag/drop the rows in the order you'd like them to appear under 'Arrange Rows' on the right-hand side.

Toggle to the STATS tab to:

  • Choose the specific stats included in the table by checking/unchecking the stats you want to see
  • Arrange column order by draggind/dropping stats in the correct order
  • Toggle stats between Average and Totals by clicking on them under 'Arrange Column Order'

Finally, from the PLAYERS tab, choose the players you want to add tiles for, and customize the top 'Player Info' row as needed. You can even add Custom Text (i.e. "Hand: R/L").

Toggle your tile size between Full and Half width in the bottom-right corner. Once you've set up your personnel tile, click Add Tile to add the tile to your report.

Once the tiles are added, add additional information as needed. Click in the areas highlighted below to add text or upload an image onto the tile.

Click on the Tile Mode button to customize the layout your personnel tile.

Once in Tile Mode, there are several actions you can take as seen below. You can resize/move boxes, remove boxes, add additional boxes, and finally Save your settings.

Click the Gear icon in the top-right corner to make additional changes:

After customizing your personnel tile, you can click the Save icon to name and save your tile as a custom tile to be used at any time:


Once your tile is saved as a custom tile, it can be added from your Account Custom Tiles menu:

Leaders - Selecting the Leaders tile will allow you to choose between 7 different stat categories as seen below. Clicking on each one will show a preview of the exact stats included.

Additional stats can be added to the tile by checking the box under Show Additional Stats. Each category has different additional stats available.

You can also arrange the column order, and toggle stats between average and totals.

Click Add Tile once you've chosen the stat category you'd like to add.

Once the tile had been added, you can move the tile, re-size it, or change the title using the same steps described above.

Recent Games - Selecting the Recent Games tile will show your opponent's 5 most recent games by default, including date, site, and result.

Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the tile to choose a different set of games to show in the tile:

Custom Table- Selecting the Custom Table tile will add a blank custom table to your report:

Click on the pencil icons next to the Header or Data cells to enter text into the table:

Click the Gear icon in the top-right corner of the tile to add or delete rows and columns from the table:

If you'd like to save your custom tile to use again in another report, click the Save icon in the top-right corner of the tile, then title the tile:

After saving your custom tile, it will be available under the Account Custom Tiles menu:


Add or remove pages via the Pagination menu. Click Pagination on the left-hand menu to make the pagination menu appear on the right-hand side of the page:

Click the add page button to add new pages, the trash icon to delete pages and the x to collapse the pagination menu. You can also re-arrange pages by dragging/dropping them:


Click the arrow icon in the top-right corner of any tile to move the tile to a different page.


Printing/Saving Report & Template:

To print your report, click the Print icon found in the top-right corner of the page. 

Two important things to note in your browser printer settings when you print:

1. Make sure your Paper Size is set to Letter or 8.5 X 11. Trying to use a larger paper size will cause issues.

2. Make sure 'Background graphics' are enabled as highlighted below. The below screenshot is from the Google Chrome browser, other browsers may look a little different.

Drafts of your report are saved automatically as you create them. If you accidentally close your browser or navigate to a different page, your latest progress will be saved as a draft.

When you click the X button, you'll be able to title and save the report you're working on, as well as save your report as a template to be used in the future.

Returning to your opponents page, you'll see your saved report under the Scout Builder tab. Clicking on the saved report will open it right back up to continue editing.

Clicking the 'Save As' button highlighted below will let you copy your report to a new report. This is best used when you are playing the same team more than once. You can open your report from the first game, and click 'Save As' to copy the report for your second game against the same opponent.

Clicking the 'Save Template' button will allow you to save a template at any time. If you like the overall report structure you've created and want to be able to use it again for future reports, create a template:

Once you save at least 1 template, you'll see an option to select 'My Saved Templates' when creating a new report.

Multiple Coaches Editing Report:

When working in a report, you'll see text in the top-right indicating that the report is locked and other users won't be able to edit the report while you're working on it. Other users can view the report is read-only mode while you are editing it.

If you open a locked report to try and edit it, you'll see the text highlighted below indicating another user is currently editing the report. Once that other user closes the report, you'll be able to edit it.
