Adding and Editing Actions

Adding Actions

There are 3 ways to add actions/movements to a play; Drag and Drop - Action Palette, Drag and Drop - Movement, and the Free Draw feature.

Drag and Drop - Action Palette

Open the Actions menu on the left to view the movement options provided. Pick the shape of the action that you would like by clicking and holding the left mouse button and then dropping the stencil into your diagram.

You will then be presented with a menu to select a Screen, Cut, Dribble, or Pass. Select the appropriate action and the stencil will adjust automatically.

After placing a stencil, it will appear on the diagram with a green dot at either endpoint. The green dots can be used to move each endpoint into place. With actions live a curved line, you will also have a yellow circle at the midpoint of the curve - this will allow you to adjust the arc of the curve.

For example, moving the end points and mid point from the example above, we will now have 2 curling over 4 and 5, ending on the opposite wing.

When adding more detailed movements, such as an angle with a curve, you will see multiple green squares (endpoints) and/or yellow circles (midpoints). These can be adjusted the same way - clicking and dragging - to show the points of movement.

Drag and Drop - Movement

Firstly, you will need to disable the choose action palette. To do this, click on your name or the drop down arrow in the top right corner, then select Settings.

From this settings menu, you will be able to click on the toggle for "Enable choose action palette" as well as other options. Once you've made your selections, press the Save button and you'll see the update on the court.

Now, the Actions menu on the left has been replaced by Cut, Pass, Screen, and Dribble menues. Within each of those menues, you can select the exact movement type for the specific action you want to use. This is done the same way; by clicking and holding the left mouse button and then dropping the stencil into your diagram. Adjusting and editing the stencils is also the same.

Free Draw

To enable to Free Draw feature, press the Free Draw button at the bottom of the diagram. This will change your mouse cursor to a pencil icon and allow you to draw directly on the diagram. You can also use a keyboard shortcut to toggle Free Draw by pressing either the "d" or "f" button. To cancel the Free Draw feature, you can either press the button at the bottom again or the "ESC" key on your keyboard.

Left click on the screen where you'd like to draw. Then hold the button down and move the cursor in the direction you'd like to draw the action. Once you have completed drawing the action, release the left button and select what type of action you'd like to see. In the example below, after drawing a straight line and releasing the mouse, I would select the dribble icon and the diagram will update.

Note: if you're having trouble keeping the mouse straight, you can hold the SHIFT key while drawing an action and it will adjust to a straight line.

Changing Action Type

Right click on the stencil that you'd like to change. Hover over "Change Action Type" and then select the stencil type you'd like to use. In the example below, to change the "cut" (that was selected by accident), I can select the pass stencil and it will update automatically.

FastBuild

After adding the first actions of your play in Frame 1, you can advance the players and ball to their next location in Frame 2. To do this, press the FastBuild button at the bottom of the diagram.

You will now see that we're in Frame 2 and the positions of players 1, 2, and 3 have all moved to reflect the actions in Frame 1.

Give Ball to Another Player

If there was a pass made to player 2 in Frame 1, but the ball is still with the passer, you can select the player that should have the ball, then the "Give Ball" button at the bottom of the diagram. This will instantly move the ball to that player so you can continue working on your play. You can also use a keyboard shortcut to give a player the ball by selecting the player and then pressing the "bbutton.
